I had an email back from Robert Violette at Violette Editions ... so exciting! He asked me to send over my CV and said that in the New Year we can arrange a date for me to go up and talk books!! WOW!
When I hear back from him I will ask him to send me a catalogue of the books they have published. He didn't send me any further information in his email - and I would really like to research further into them as a company. Their website is just a splash page so I will need to do some digging!
ISTD progress ...
TUESDAY 2ND DECMBER 2008
I spent today working on the ISTD brief researching creative writing, people watching, body language, psychology etc. I have found it really interesting and have found some useful information. I think its progressing well - the more I research the more I can see my idea working. I just need to work out a day to go to London, maybe one day next week. I know I could always do my 'people watching' in Bournemouth, but there is something about the Tube in London, and the different people that get on and off. I think it would be more interesting, as opposed to doing it where I live - which may not be as inspiring!
I now have something solid to speak to Mike Ryan about on Thursday/Friday when he comes in which was my aim! I wanted to be able to make as much use of him being here as possible and I am sure he will be able to give me some good advice!

'Although there are several good design websites that occasionally have book reviews, there didn’t seem to be a single place online where you could get constant updates and reviews of new (and sometimes old) design books.
Design books are often expensive and contrary – sometimes the book is worth having for the physical production values alone, sometimes for the images, sometimes for the words and, occasionally, for all three. We wanted to cover those elements in our reviews so that you know whether it’s worth owning.'
